Ancient Coins

Anyone into ancient coins? Eg Roman? One of the larger Sydney auctions was beginning of the month (Noble Auctions)

Auction fee is 20% plus GST (22%) which takes the fun out of it. But I bought coin from 250AD , cracked and all but hammer was $50. Silver all 3.5g of it 🙂

So sad that our civilization is disappearing into digital, beautiful coins have been a part of how humans deal with each other for millennia...

I've been collecting for a few years now. It can become a very expensive hobby but it's a special feeling holding an piece of ancient art, culture and life in your hands. That's my feeling anyway. I tend to buy my coins from overseas auctions as the selection is large and varied. Shipping costs, on top of buyer fees, can hurt. Check out a new auction (low cost) approach set up by some well known experts in the field - 'L5'. I've got a few bids going at the moment. I'm not affiliated with them in any way.
